Wei-Chuan Shih 在麻省理工学院的生物光子学和 M/NEMS 专业获得博士学位。 目前休斯敦大学ECE系正教授。在加入休斯顿大学之前,他是斯伦贝谢研究员。 Shih 博士目前是电气与计算机工程教授,同时兼任生物医学工程、材料科学与工程和化学方面的职位。 他是麻省理工学院马丁研究员,并获得 NSF CAREER 生物光子学奖、首届 NASA 早期职业教师奖、UH 卓越研究和奖学金奖、UH Cullen 工程学院教师研究卓越奖和 UH Cullen 工程学院首届新兴创新奖 . 他在书籍、期刊和会议论文集上发表了 120 多篇文章。 他拥有 17 项已授权的美国专利。 他目前担任 OSA Optics Express 和 SPIE Journal of Nanophotonics 的副主编。 他是美国国家发明家学会、OSA 和 IEEE 的 SPIE 研究员和高级会员。
博士后 #1 & #2:
要求:候选人需要在开发用于生物应用的新型光学显微镜和光谱成像技术方面具有很强的实验技能。候选人需要对物理光学和首选微/纳米光子学/等离子体学有扎实的了解。
博士后#3:
要求:候选人需要在制造、测试和使用微流体装置进行生物应用(如细胞操作、粒子分离和生物标志物光学检测)方面具有很强的实验技能。候选人需要对流体力学有扎实的了解,最好是微/纳米粒子
微流体通道和界面相互作用中的行为。
博士后#4:
要求:候选人需要在用于生物传感应用的等离子体纳米结构的制造、测试和实验方面具有很强的实验技能。候选人需要在使用 FDTD/FEM 和 Lumerical、Comsol 等软件包对纳米结构进行分析建模和数值模拟方面具有扎实的技能。

Positions and Lab overview:
We are seeking 4 highly motivated Postdoc to develop a biophotonic imaging technology and to apply the developed technology for studying biological micro/nanovesicles. The research will involve state of the art nanoparticle imaging methods to enable multiplexed molecular and functional imaging at unprecedented speed, sensitivity and specificity. The research is jointly sponsored by a NIH R01 grant and University of Houston internal funds. The Postdoc is expected to take advantage of the unparalleled scientific resources and support to develop technologies that have real impact to a broad range of biological sciences and biomedical theranostics. Strong motivation to develop useful technology that has real impact is a plus for future transitioning into a startup company. The candidate will participate in meetings, conferences, scientific reports, publication and grant proposal writing. The candidate will effectively collaborate with researchers from the MD Anderson Cancer Center
and others.

PI Biosketch:
Wei-Chuan Shih earned his Ph.D. specialized in biophotonics and M/NEMS from MIT. Prior to joining the University of Houston, he was a Schlumberger research fellow. Dr. Shih is currently Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering with joint appointments in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, and Chemistry. He was MIT Martin Fellow, and received NSF CAREER Award in Biophotonics, inaugural NASA Early CAREER Faculty Award, UH Award for Excellence in Research and Scholarship, UH Cullen College of Engineering Faculty Research Excellence Award, and UH Cullen College of Engineering inaugural Rising Innovator Award. He has published more than 120 articles in books, journals and conference proceedings. He has 17 issued US patents. He currently serves as Associate Editor for OSA Optics Express and SPIE Journal of Nanophotonics. He is SPIE Fellow and Senior Member of National Academy of Inventor, OSA, and IEEE.
Postdoctoral associate #1 & #2:
Requirements: The candidate needs to have strong experimental skills in developing novel optical microscopy and spectroscopic imaging techniques for bio-applications. The candidate needs to have solid understanding of physical optics and preferrable micro/nanophotonics/plasmonics.
Postdoctoral associate #3:
Requirements: The candidate needs to have strong experimentalskills in fabrication, testing, and experimentation with microfluidic devices for bio-applications such as cell manipulation, particle separation, and biomarker optical detection. The candidate needs to have solid understanding of fluid mechanics and preferably micro/nanoparticle behavior in microfluidic channels and interfacial interactions.
Postdoctoral associate #4:
Requirements: The candidate needs to have strong experimentalskills in fabrication, testing, and experimentation with plasmonic nanostructures for biosensing applications. The candidate needs to have solid skills in analytical modeling and numerical simulation of nanostructures using FDTD/FEM with packages such as Lumerical, Comsol, etc.
