eBay Marketplace has billions of items from millions of sellers around the world. Its inventory is changing constantly with real-time market updates such as price and quantity changed, new item listed, item sold/expired, etc. Our search platform helps millions of customers to find their perfect choices from this enormous, diverse and dynamic inventory, and drives 70% of eBay’s revenue. This is a large-scale machine-learning platform. We are utilizing one of the largest repositories of closed-loop commerce data, including product catalog, inventory, transaction, payment, marketing, user information, user behaviors, etc. It enables us to leverage on the latest deep learning and other AI technologies. More importantly, it creates a unique and interesting set of challenges in the areas of data science and engineering that you will not find anywhere else.

As we are moving towards an AI-powered search platform, we are looking for a few smart and passionate Data Scientist or Algorithm Engineer with strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language understanding.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Mining big data to understand user behaviors and patterns of eBay''s search engine and leverage the insights to improve search-ranking algorithms.
• Researching and developing algorithms to improve search experience using machine learning, deep learning, natural language understanding, and other AI technologies.
• Leading research and exploration of the next-generation of search technologies

Job Requirements:
• Smart, quick learning and proactive.
• Good communication skills.
• Enthusiastic about improving customer search experience.
• Ability to work independently and in a team to research innovative solutions to challenging business problems.
• BS/BA or above in CS or related field. Master degree and above is preferred.
• Technical Skills
o Solid knowledge about data structure and algorithms.
o Proficient in R, Python, Java, Scala, or C++ programming.
o Data mining, machine learning or information retrieval background is required.
o Experience with deep learning, natural language understanding, or other AI technologies.
